The story of two lovers forced to deny their true feelings — and selves — leaves me in tears every time. A tale of two men falling in love in s Wyoming, Brokeback Mountain was never going to be your average screen romance; nor did director Ang Lee intend it to be. Based on the short story by Annie Proulx , the film adaptation is not afraid to wear its heart on its bloodstained sleeve. Almost every scene packs some kind of emotional punch, largely thanks to the astonishingly raw performances from Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal , who play, respectively, the lead roles of Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist so memorably. Spanning a year period, the story pays careful attention to the trail of deceived wives, bewildered parents and confused kids the pair leave behind as their complex relationship intensifies. On release, the film was praised for its intelligence and candour.

Try is the operative word. Gyllenhaal and Ledger saddle up to play gay cowboys whose relationship becomes official in a secluded tent after a night of too much whiskey. One of the most celebrated sex scenes of all time, this one is artfully done and told out of sequence—director Steven Soderbergh being as playful with editing and time and narrative as his two leads, Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney, are with each other. Flirty and cheeky as they undress, they do finally get horizontal, their lips do finally lock, and unfortunately, the screen does finally fade to black. In the Realm of the Senses has long been considered one of the most perverse and erotic films to have ever slinked across the screen. Sexually explicit and non-simulated in its acts, the art-house gem about a real-life tabloid scandal features countless coital climaxes between its two leads. But the red dress scene manages to leave a little more to the imagination than the rest of the film, making for quite the arousing watch. Its innocence is vital to the brutal and difficult-to-watch sexual deed that comes in the third act of the film. Kerr and Lancaster star as Karen and Milton, a pair of adulterous lovers who get lost in the ebb and flow of the waves and the toss and turn of each other.

Space is given to how long it would have taken Jake Gyllenhaal's character to have had a BM after eating the beans, whether or not his character had IBS, the possibility that Jack had pre-lubed but with what did he lube, one longs to ask.
